A group of us girls had met in one of the empty classrooms. We were in our late teens, about to graduate to go to university. The era was the early 70’s. We sat on our desks, not at our desks. We were part of a new generation of women interested in politics, world views, and wanting our voices to be heard.

We were radical. I edited the school magazine. We were young women who were not going to follow the footsteps of our mothers and their mothers. We demanded a different society, we were part of a revolution….

Years later, we had gone to university … and many of us had given up on our inspiring ideas. What happened?

Life happened. Many of us had become survivors … then came marriages, kids, … I was still a trail blazer at heart, but bit by bit the radical light dimmed with me, too.

Mildly Chilli spiced hot Chocolate dip and Honey Yoghurt dip for Fruit

Here’s an inspiration recipe for fruit which gives a whole heap of wellbeing benefits if you add some interesting dips to it all.

We all know that dark chocolate with high cocoa percentage is a fantastic mood lifter. Chili-peppers contains impressive list of plant derived chemical compounds, vitamins and minerals that are known to have disease preventing and health promoting properties. The chemical compound capsaicin also helps as a pain reliever.

I also added some drops of Orange Essential Oil, which has a long list of benefits but also tastes extremely delicious in the dark chocolate mix.

Lifts the spirit while providing a calming influence

Well-known for its uplifting properties, Orange is soothing and brings peace and happiness to the mind. It is refreshing and relaxing at the same time.

Orange Essential Oil is rich in antioxidant D-Limonene, and this is super helpful to maintain a happy body.

A word of caution: Do keep in mind that this recipe only refers to the Young Living Essential Oils brand. These essential oils are food-grade and safe for use as a food-flavouring, dietary supplement, and for internal use – unlike other brands of essential oil which should never be ingested or used to flavour foods.

In this dish I provided two contrasting flavour dips which are very complimentary to each other. The mildly spicy bitter dark chocolate and orange dip is serenaded by the deliciously sweet and creamy mix of Greek yogurt with forest honey. Oh, in case you were wondering, I sprinkled some freshly ground coffee over the honey-yogurt.
